Last Trip To Katahdin Lake

We left the house today and crossed the dam at the foot of Millinocket Lake. We traveled across the backside of the lake and cut up thru Camp Katahdinaki on our way out to the Sandy Road.

A quick stop at Shorty's Camp on Burnt Land Pond. This would be our last visit to this camp as the land was purchased by Roxanne Quimby. From here on thru the pictures below this land would never be accessed again by snowmobiles.

Dad.....where are we? "On the Kellog Road headed to K-Lake"

A quick break for a snack on Balm of Gilliard Pond.

We missed out on the sun and the snow was coming off the mountain now.

Our last stop this day on Katahdin Lake was the old Sewall Camp.

Hot Dog Day

What a day to burn some hot dogs on the Kellog Road on March 24 2008. Little did we know this would be the last of the trips in this country due to a land purchase.

Katahdin Lake in Early Spring

Here are some photos taken from the outlet of Katahdin Lake on March 24, 2007. This would be the last year that Katahdin Lake would be accessible by snowmobile for the general public. The views were breathtaking today to say the least.

Frank and John said I couldn't get the bottle we saw laying on the stream bed by the outlet without getting my butt wet.

A Visit to the Ambajesus Boomhouse

Took Shelby and Taylor for a ride to the Ambajesus Boomhouse at the mouth of the West Branch on Ambajesus Lake today. We left the house and headed up the poleiline. At Smith Pond we turned and took the Wadleigh Pond Trail out onto Deep Cove. From here we sledded across Ambajesus Lake to the Boom House.
